Description
The Trench Slope Tool is designed to be a reference tool used by a competent / qualified person(s) for industries involved in excavations and trenches. The tool can be used by excavator operators, pipe layers, supervisors, safety professionals, geotechnical technicians, municipalities, and others to reference safe slope angles when working around excavations and trenches. To ensure effective safety, the trench slope tool is to be used prior to personnel entering the excavation or trench. This tool should not be used in place of an onsite competent person nor other traditional sloping or shoring techniques.

Select the correct slope angle tool for your soil type (see current OSHA / CAL OSHA ORDER 1504 regulation, Standards 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P for soil classification). It is recommended to use the trench slope angle tool when standing at least 20 feet away at existing grade level or at a safe location below grade within the excavation or trench. Each slope tool is printed with English on one side and Spanish on the other side for easy field deployment.

Hold the slope angle tool horizontal and perpendicular to the sides of the slopes (kneel down to get close to the horizontal). Then, place a level on top of the slope angle tool to ensure the trench slope tool is both level and plumb with respect to the sides of the excavation or trench. If any discrepancies between existing slope conditions and the results indicated by the use of the trench slope tool, remedial work must be conducted to correct any issue which could affect employee safety.

30 or more units in a single order can be customized with your company logo for no additional charge. Always follow all applicable local, state, federal and jobsite specific requirements.
